Quebec kids (they’re all 22 years old) Misteur Valaire launched their third album just this week, Golden Bombay, at Sherbrooke’s Tapageur resto, and preparing for a major gig in July at Sherbrooke’s Parc Jacques Cartier.
The disc’s title is a plain on Gordon Bombay, the coach in disney’s Mighty Ducks – a movie the musicians watched twice while recording the album. Call them pop-inspired electro-jazz, this hyperactive quintet’s latest disc is catchier than the last, and features some members of the storied Bran Van 3000.
MV believes music should be free, you can download their second album (from the website www.mv.mu). Band members write : « Music lovers should not feel guilty about downloading its music because by doing so, all they’re doing is helping in quickly promoting the band worldwide! »
The band hopes to make ites money through merchandise and ticket sales for live shows.
So – Misteur Valaire plays July 14 at the Parc Jacques Cartier, as part of the 29th annuel Fête du Lac des Nations, help this year from July 13 to 18. This year’s Fête lineaup will be released on Tuesday, and there’s always a great mix of local bands who deserve a wider audience, and big names you never expected to see in Sherbrooke. Look for the program around town next week!
